William R. Hague, Founder
"No secret of success is going to work…unless you do."


Mr. Hague started in the vacuum business but knows that an ethic that focuses on hard, smart work will get anyone ahead in any field of endeavor. One day at a tradeshow he ran a booth across from a man selling water treatment equipment, that's when everything changed. There is no real secret of success…it just takes good old fashioned hard work. Risk taking is also a trademark of Mr. Hague.  When his goal was to produce the best water treatment system in the market, he knew he would need to make a heavy investment in engineering – starting from a blank piece of paper.  That takes guts.  But, it also achieved the goal.  WaterMax® represents the best water treatment systems you can buy only because there was an exceptional man behind the machine.

Robert A. Hague, President
"I have never been fired, however I have been sold a lot."


"Bob" as he is best known, earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering at Ohio University.  He has worked for Owens Illinois, Great Northern and Georgia Pacific, managing plants in several locations throughout America.  As a kid, he carried salt and installed equipment, but more recently he has been responsible for manufacturing, shipping and engineering at Hague Quality Water, International. Now he is the President of the oldest major water treatment manufacturer under continuous management in the US.

Eric May, CWS-1, National Sales Manager

Eric has over twenty-five years experience in direct sales and has been working in the water treatment industry since 1999. He has been a Regional Manager with Hague Quality Water International for the Mid-Atlantic Region since 2004 and was recently appointed National Sales Manager. Eric is a Certified Water Specialist I, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Eastern Water Quality Association. Eric has been married to his wife Sharon for 38 years and they have one son, and one granddaughter. In his spare time, Eric loves to ride his Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic.

Gary Battenberg, National Technical Director

Whether on road or at the corporate office, Gary's training meetings are highly valued by all who attend. However, it was fate that brought Gary to Hague. Literally. He had two career options and he flipped a coin to make his decision. Heads: water. Tails: pest control. All customers are thankful that the coin came up Heads.  Of course we are too.

Rodger Rhinehart, Chief Engineer

When Rodger came to Hague, he brought an experience in plastics that was a good fit with Hague's plans to invest in in-house injection molding operations.  Along with that business experience, he brought a sense of professional leadership, with credentials that include Mechanical Engineering and MBA degrees from the University of Richmond.  Rodger realizes that everything and everyone must work together - from concept to execution. That is the only way to stay ahead in an ever-changing industry like the water business.

He started in the water business fresh out of Ol' Miss, trading his catcher's mitt for an in-home demonstration kit. Technically oriented, Billy realized, "Competing against WaterMax is impossible... especially when people know what they're talking about. Billy's technical skill, his extensive background and his business ethics have earned him a place on Hague's management team. He feels like he is in the right place, too, as he says, "I have really enjoyed working for Hague and I feel lucky to be involved with such a great company. Albert James Snook, CWS-3; CI; CSR, Canada Regional Manager

Upon retirement from his 24 year career in the Military, Albert became a certified member of the WQA. Then, in 1992, he became an authorized Hague dealer in Ottawa, Ontario. "I have 14 years of experience promoting Hague," said Snook. "And to this day I have not found any other product to out-perform the WaterMax." Albert's territory spans from St. John's Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. "With our unique owners manual and a little coaching," said Snook, "Homeowners in areas where there isn't a local Authorized Hague Dealer can still perform basic maintenance on WaterMax units. We now have well established Dealers in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and eastern British Columbia." Albert has two sons, three daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys bowling, chess, card games, reading, traveling and relaxing by his lake.

Michael has over 48 years of experience in the water treatment industry. As the owner and operator of a successful dealership for over 25 years, he has worked in all aspects of the business including service, sales and management. For the last 26 years Michael has been helping other Hague dealers develop their businesses.

Michael is certified by the Water Quality Association as a Certified Water Specialist VI. He has been active in the WQA on both state and national levels throughout his career and is the recipient of the WQA Quality Circle Award. His experience and expertise can be a new asset in your business.
